Mini Meat-Filled Pastries

🧄 Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • ~3/4 cup warm water (adjust as needed)

For the filling:

  • 200g (about 7 oz) ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin (optional)
  • Chopped parsley (optional)

For assembly:

  • 1 egg yolk (for egg wash)
  • A fork (to seal the edges)

🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough:
    • In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
    • Add oil/butter and gradually add warm water until a smooth dough forms.
    • Knead for 5-7 minutes, cover, and let rest for 20 minutes.
  2. Prepare the filling:
    • In a bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, spices, and parsley. Mix well.
  3. Shape the pastries:
    • Roll out the dough and cut into circles using a cup or cutter.
    • Place a spoonful of meat mixture in the center of one circle.
    • Cover with another circle, press down the edges with a fork to seal.
  4. Bake:
    • Brush tops with egg yolk.
    • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Serve:
    • Best served warm with garlic yogurt dip or your favorite sauce.

🥣 Garlic Yogurt Dip (optional):

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt to taste
  • A drizzle of olive oil

Mix well and chill before serving.
