Soft Baked Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk (not hot)
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1 egg (optional, for richer texture)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Activate the yeast

  • In a bowl, mix warm milk + sugar + yeast
  • Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy

2. Make the dough

  • Add flour, salt, butter, and egg (if using)
  • Mix until a soft dough forms

3. Knead

  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic
  • (You can use a mixer or your hands)

4. First rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl
  • Cover and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours (until doubled)

5. Shape

  • Punch down the dough
  • Shape into a loaf or rolls
  • Place in a greased baking pan

6. Second rise

  • Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes

7. Bake

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes
  • Top should be golden brown

✨ Tips for Extra Soft Bread

  • Brush with melted butter right after baking
  • Don’t overbake (this keeps it soft!)
  • Use milk instead of water for a richer texture
