Roasted Cabbage Steaks with Cheese & Spices
Introduction
These roasted cabbage steaks are incredibly simple, crispy on the edges, and full of flavor. Made with basic ingredients, they’re so tasty that you’ll want to make them every weekend. Perfect as a side dish or a light vegetarian meal, this recipe proves that cabbage can be absolutely delicious.
Ingredients
- 1 medium head of cabbage
- 50 ml olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- Red pepper (chili flakes or paprika), to taste
- Optional topping: grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or parmesan)
Instructions
- Prepare the cabbage
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Remove outer leaves from the cabbage and cut into thick round slices (steaks).
- Season
- Place cabbage slices on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Brush both sides with olive oil.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper.
- Bake
- Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and tender.
- Add cheese (optional)
- Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
- Return to oven for 5–7 minutes until melted and lightly browned.
- Serve
- Serve hot as a side dish or enjoy on its own.
