Ingredients
For the Brownie Layer:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
For the Cookie Layer:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups (155g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
- Prepare the brownie layer:
- In a bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking well.
- Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until combined.
- Prepare the cookie dough layer:
- In another bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla, mixing well.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Assemble:
- Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer and gently spread it.
- Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely before slicing into bars. Enjoy!
